Board of Stewardship

In 2006 the Stewardship Board focused its energies and activities in three areas of service:

  1. Understanding the needs for Griffith Lutheran volunteers to assist or serve in various positions or on various boards or committees.
  2. Conducted a Fall Stewardship Campaign, the Legacy Stewardship Program, using two interactive timelines, hosting a Thanksgiving - Legacy celebration luncheon and concluding with the preparation of a proposed congregational budget for 2007.
  3. Considered a general or focused survey of the congregation for the purpose of obtaining volunteers for future congregational activities, board and committee membership or congregational officers.
  4. Added a monthly feature to the newsletter and organized a plan to compile a church cookbook with recipes culled from the congregation, beginning with those provided at the Legacy luncheon.

Regarding seeking additional volunteers, the board helped find additional members for the Evangelism Board to make follow up phone calls to prospective members.  We assisted in brainstorming ideas for the Sunday Superintendent position and a new position of co superintendent.  And finally, the board had representation on the annual nominating committee seeking new officers and board members for 2007.  In all these activities, our church secretary Denise Buehler was particularly helpful in making suggestions for these openings.

The Fall Stewardship Campaign was organized with a calendar of events over a two-month period.  The educational and motivational portion focused on letters written to congregational members about stewardship as well as talks by various lay people. The following did an excellent job making these presentations:

We very much appreciate Pastor Bailey's emphasis on Stewardship during this period.

The Stewardship Board stands ready to help find volunteers for any type of congregational activity or any vacancy that exists in the congregation.
